Overview

Important update: For organizational reasons we cannot change anymore the formats of the symposia at this point of time. Thus, for presenters of in-person symposia it is not possible to switch to an online or hybrid attendance format. If for any reason a switch would be necessary, we can only offer to include a pre-recorded presentation, under the condition that this pre-record is sent timely to the chair of the symposium.

Taking into consideration COVID-19 related uncertainties, the conference schedule and format are planned as follow:

  • Keynotes and other plenary events (e.g., the Debate on the Joint Day) will be held in a hybrid format in the big lecture hall of our venue – presenters in-person or online (in case there are travel restrictions), and up to 150 in-person attendants. Streaming/online access will be provided for external attendants.
  • Symposia will be held in-person in three big rooms of our venue. They will be recorded so that they can be provided online in an asynchronous format.
Consult our symposia guidelines (PDF) for further guidance on how best to prepare your symposium contribution.
  • Paper sessions will be held online and recorded as well. Conference delegates who are in-person in Dresden can attend an online session in one of the seminar rooms of our venue with their own laptops and headsets.
Consult our paper session guidelines (PDF) for further guidance on how best to prepare your paper.
  • The poster session will be held online as well. It has been put in the first time slot on the second conference day to allow conference delegates who are in-person in Dresden to attend it online from their hotels or at the conference venue in one of the seminar rooms.
Consult our poster session guidelines (PDF) for further guidance on how best to prepare your poster.

Given the pandemic uncertainties, the conference organizers aimed to organize the conference as inclusive as possible. Thus, the paper sessions will all run in a kind of hybrid format via ZOOM to make sure that online-attendees as well as in-person attendees can present their work and discuss their work in thematically grouped sessions. Accordingly, in all sessions there is a mix of online- and in-person attendees – and for each session we provide a conference room so that the discussion among the in-person attendees is facilitated and promoted. In the program all sessions that run in such a way are indicated as online, in order to signal to the conference delegates that they have to bring their own devices (e.g., Laptop and Headset), even if they are attending in-person.

There are manifold in-person sessions at the conference (Keynotes, Symposia, SIG8-Business Meeting, all events of the Joint Day), and so far more than 170 researchers from all over the world have registered for the conference (as in-person delegates).
