We believe that we all share the desire that the worst of the pandemic will be over by summer 2022. However, at this very moment, it is very challenging if not impossible to make predictions.

Nevertheless, we would like to give you an overview of our plans so far, which are all subject to change.

The summer school and the conference will take place August 22-26, 2022. We hope to welcome at least some of you in person in our beautiful city, but anticipate that a large part of the conference will have to take place online.

We will ask you around October 2021 whether you wish to continue or withdraw your submission for the 2020 conference. If you decide to continue you will have the opportunity to upload an updated version of your accepted submission.

A usual Call for Papers will also be opened around October 2021 as well.

With warm greetings,

Your SIG8 meets SIG16 conference team

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the first joint conference that connects the 17th International Conference on Motivation and the 9th Conference on Metacognition in our beautiful city of Dresden.

The joint conference of the EARLI SIGs 8 and 16 will be a place to go beyond disciplinary boundaries by sharing and discussing research issues and findings from all fields of Motivation, Emotion, SRL and Metacognition. It will also offer great opportunities for discovering new pathways for collaborations that will contribute to empowering smart learning and instruction in a world of rapid and complex changes.

Due to uncertainties related to COVID-19 Pandemic, the SIG coordinators, the local organizers, and the International Scientific Committee decided to postpone our conference to 2022. The conference will be scheduled in August or September 2022.

Please visit our website in the upcoming months for more information. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail.

We wish you all the best and a safe and healthy time until then. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in Dresden in 2022.
